Get Out The Vote
Inspired by the quote by Max Depree;
"We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are."
Butterflies represent change, metamorphosis, and growth. For my Get Out The Vote Poster for the 2020 presidential election, I integrated the symbolism of a butterfly with a quote by Max Depree that reads; “We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are." The psychedelic style of my poster represents the 60s and 70s which acts as a mirror to what we are experiencing today in terms of the need for togetherness, peace and love. The poster captures the viewer's attention with its vibrant colors, curious design, and layered messages designed with the intention to make type the hero. The themes of change and unity are clearly woven throughout the aesthetic of the poster through both the psychedelic type and color. The poster is lively, passionate, youthful, and successfully drives the message to get out the vote.
Goal
Create a poster to inspire voting in the 2020 presidential election.
The Prompt

Psychedelic Posters
To accompany my butterfly and the idea of change I knew that I wanted to incorporate a 70s theme into my poster. The 60s and 70s were a time of great strife but there was this yearning for peace, love, and unity. This time period acts as a mirror to what we are experiencing today in terms of the need for togetherness, and the desire to get out the vote. So we can see the 70s theme develop through the typography and overall concert-poster style of my poster.
