Baskerville Type Specimen
Baskerville is a typeface defined by its elegant, gestural nature. Although it is a historic, transitional typeface, Baskerville is often not the first choice in type for designers. To promote the Baskerville font family, a type specimen pairing in the form of a booklet and a motion piece were created to entice designers to use the typeface. Vibrant colors, palpable texture, and overall youthful aesthetics were paired with unique and unexpected layouts to display the versatility of the typeface. The Baskerville type specimen boldly refers back to the font’s origins, while successfully meeting the needs of modern design.

Final Design
Made to mimic the gestures of handwriting, Baskerville is a typeface all about personality and self expression. The Baskerville type specimen booklet and motion piece both push this idea to the extreme. Vibrant colors, textures, and layouts exemplify just how unique and versatile this typeface is. Although modern and youthful, the type specimen pairing successfully pays homage to the historical qualities of Baskerville, such as its elegant nature, distinct proportions, and bold, contrasting strokes.
